Conor Coventry says the Addicks can take real belief from their encouraging start to the 2025/26 campaign.
The midfielder has played every minute for Nathan Jones' side in the Sky Bet Championship so far this season.
"I think so far we've given quite a good account of ourselves," explained Coventry. "There's still more to come, but we've definitely shown that we can compete at this level. I feel we can take a lot of confidence from our start, maybe even more so from the performances than just the results.
"When I came to the club getting back to the Championship was the aim for the club and my aim within that as well. I feel like last season was a great season for all of us and personally I got to play a lot. I just enjoyed the challenge every week of trying to win games and be up at the top of the table. It's exactly what I wanted to happen when I came here and the next part is to now kick on in the Championship."
Looking ahead to this weekend's trip to Deepdale, the 25-year-old said: "We had a taste of Preston last year in the FA Cup and we know they are a tough side to play against. They beat us on the night.
"They have had a similar start to us, quite a positive start, and I know that they are around us in the table. We know it's a tough place to go and it will be a tough game, but we're relishing it."
