Curbishley and Brown impressed by Kilkenny’s debut

CharltonTV’s Alan Curbishley and Steve Brown were impressed by Gavin Kilkenny’s full debut.

The 23-year-old midfielder, who joined on loan from Premier League side AFC Bournemouth on deadline day, played the full 90 minutes of Saturday’s 2-1 triumph at Exeter City.

Analysing Kilkenny’s display in the CharltonTV studio post-match, Curbishley said: “I liked his industry, his pace and his energy. He got around the opposition and he can pass it. I think he’s a really good addition.

“In his first interview he said, ‘I like to get stuck in, I like to do this and I like to do that’ but his energy goes unnoticed. He put himself about, he’s aggressive, he can pass it and he’s all action.

“He’s exactly what we needed. He showed everything that we need from a central midfield player who can tackle, pass and get about the pitch. I think he likes to get forward as well when he can.”

Brown added: “He’s industrious - you can see he’s a worker and he’ll cover every blade of grass for you. He likes to get tight and he’s got the body movement and the speed from a standing position to catch people out. I think that’s a great side to his game.”

Charlton return to The Valley on Saturday, February 11th to take on Fleetwood Town (3pm KO GMT). Click here to purchase your tickets.
