Carla Humphrey

Charlton Athletic are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Carla Humphrey on a two-year deal. 

Humphrey's career began at Arsenal, where she honed her skills during her youth career and won two FA Youth Cups. In 2015, Humphrey signed her first professional contract with the club.

Humphrey ventured on a loan spell to Doncaster Rovers Belles for the 2016/17 season, gaining invaluable experience, but it was her move to Bristol City at the start of the 2017/18 season that put her in the spotlight. Spending four seasons at the club, Carla made an impressive 76 appearances and established herself in the Women's Championship.

In a transfer to Liverpool in July 2021, Carla made a significant impact, helping the team secure promotion back to the Women's Super League, clinching the Barclays Women's Championship title.

Humphrey has also represented England at various youth levels, most recently shining with the U23s.

In her own words, Carla expressed her gratitude to Liverpool and bid farewell to the club where she made unforgettable memories. Now, as she dons the colours of Charlton Athletic.

In her first interview with the club Humprhey expressed her delight at joining Karen Hills' side:

"I’m really excited. Really pleased to be here – I’ve met all the girls, and it’s a great group and a really talented group – I’m really happy to be here."

“They’re people that can help me develop my game to another level. Hopefully, I can come in and add competition for places. As I said, it’s a talented group, I feel like they’re the types of players I want to be playing with, and hopefully, we can work together and succeed this season."
