FRIENDLY REPORT | Spurs 2 Charlton 1

'

Karen Hills' side put on an impressive showing against WSL outfit Tottenham Hotspur in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Sunday afternoon.

Addicks academy graduate Mary Bashford netted Charlton's only goal of the afternoon with Jess Naz and Ellie Brazil scoring for the hosts.

Charlton started the game brightly Carla Humphrey saw her free-kick effort go just over Votíková bar. Shortly after Angela Addison's strike fired back off the crossbar but was eventually cleared away.

After a goalless first half, the Addicks took the lead after the interval after a cornball pinballed around the box and was eventually blasted in by Bashford from close range.

The hosts showed their class by applying pressure to the Addicks' back line and Spurs soon got their equaliser, Naz broke down the middle of the park with an impressive run and curling finish which went beyond Jess Gray between the sticks.

Soon after Spurs added a second with some impressive creative play on the left flank with a low cross falling to the feet of Ellie Brazil who made no mistake from close range.

Karen Hills' side almost secured a late equaliser after being awarded a penalty but Melissa Johnon's spot-kick was smartly stopped by Votíková.

Charlton return to Barclays Women's Super League action on Sunday, January 21st as we host Blackburn Rovers at The Oakwood in Crayford. Click here to secure your tickets.
