Academy graduate Keenan Gough was delighted to make his Sky Bet Championship debut on Saturday, and is ready to make the most of every opportunity that comes his way.
Gough was introduced to the game in the 89th minute in the Addicks' 1-0 win over Oxford United at the weekend.
The 19-year-old looked back on his league debut after rising through the academy from U9s level.
"It was a very surreal experience," Gough said. "I didn't really process it until the day after!
"When I was on the pitch, I was just in the zone, when you are on the pitch, all you think about is the game."
"The gaffer told me to get ready, and I was ready for about 40 minutes to get on and do what needed to be done," he added. "He is a very good person to learn off, his mentality and the way he thinks, his style of football. The more I work with him, the more that relationship will grow as well."
"After the game, all the love from my family, and friends was a great feeling and it was very special."
Gough was brought on while the Addicks were holding a crucial 1-0 lead. "It was just all about defending," he said.
"Keeping the clean sheet, and getting the three points, it was a perfect time to get stuck in.
"The team are a great group, everyone is so supportive and drives each other to do well. There is a winning mentality in the team and that suits me as a person.
"I enjoy playing both in midfield and centre-half, I can play both. Being called upon is a privilege, and I always do my best to make sure I give 100%."
