Harvey Kedwell signs first professional contract

Academy prospect Harvey Kedwell has penned his first professional contract with Charlton.

The midfielder, who joined the Addicks as an U8, starred for both of the club's academy sides last season, lifting the Professional Development League 2 - South title with the U18s and scoring in the showpiece final as the U21s were crowned London Senior Cup champions.

After putting pen-to-paper, Kedwell said: "It's obviously a very happy moment for me and my family. It's something that I've worked hard towards all my life.

"I now want to make my first team debut but I know I'll have to work hard to get in there as there's a lot of good players. That's the biggest thing that I want to achieve next season."

Academy Director Steve Avory added: “Harvey has come through the schoolboy years with us, deservedly got his scholarship and has since had a very good two years as a scholar. We’ve been delighted with his contributions, whether it be as a defensive midfield player or even as an attacking midfield player where I feel he’s really developed in this last season.

“He’s a very competitive individual, in the right way, who plays the game with great desire. He fully deserves that professional contract having made his mark in U21s football last season as well.”

Charlton fans can support the academy by signing up to the Valley Gold scheme. Valley Gold enables fans to support the club’s academy in unearthing the talents of tomorrow, as well as giving them the chance to win cash prizes.
