Henry and Chin presented with framed league debut shirts

Charlton manager Ben Garner and Academy Director Steve Avory presented academy graduates Aaron Henry and Richard Chin with their framed first-team league debut shirts to mark their milestones.

Midfielder Henry came on as a second-half substitute against Cambridge United at The Valley in August, while Chin started at left-back against Forest Green Rovers in SE7 a fortnight ago.

Avory, who traditionally led the presentation at Sparrows Lane, was full of praise for the duo.

“This is now the sixth shirt presentation we've done within a year," he said. "One thing I wanted to say about Aaron and Richard, apart from the usual, is that they have worked so hard to get where they are now. They realise they are on a journey and the journey has got some way to go. Both of them are clearly dedicated to get there and it's an inspiration to everyone here.

“These two have been at the academy since U9 and are now both 19, which is confirmation that we have got this belief here, not just me but the rest of the staff, in long-term player development."

Charlton fans can support the academy by signing up to the Valley Gold scheme. Valley Gold enables fans to support the club’s academy in unearthing the talents of tomorrow, as well as giving them the chance to win cash prizes.
