Holden previews Morecambe trip

Dean Holden has provided an update on the fitness of his squad ahead of Tuesday's trip to Morecambe.

Ryan Inniss was absent at the weekend having undergone a dental operation, while Jes Rak-Sakyi and Lucas Ness were both forced off in the second half.

“Ryan has trained this morning so he’ll be travelling with us,” the boss confirmed. “We’ll see how he is tomorrow but he seems to have overcome the issue that he had over the weekend.

“Jes picked up a knock on his ankle and there’s a little bit of swelling in there. Again, we’ll see on that.

“We’re not too sure on Lucas just yet," he added. "He’s gone for a scan this morning. He felt something in his knee so obviously that’s the smart thing to do from the physio's point of view. We’ll see exactly what that is once we've got the result. Obviously once we get the details we’ll look to see how we move that forward.”

The Addicks take on a Morecambe side who currently sit in the relegation zone, although Derek Adams' side have suffered just one defeat at the Mazuma Stadium in their last 12 outings on home soil.

“For us, again, we focus on ourselves," explained Holden. "We respect the job that Derek’s done while he’s been up there. They’ve got a decent record at home. It’s a really tight ground and there will be a good atmosphere in there tomorrow night. Getting our own performance right is the main thing for us.

“In terms of where we are in the season there’s only 11 games left, but obviously I’ve not been in the job that long either so we’re still trying to find ways to improve all the time," he continued. "We have to keep putting points on the board. Of course, we wanted three at the weekend at home, but we take the one and we move forward.

"It’s important that we keep adding to that points tally to get ourselves totally safe. That was obviously my remit coming into the job. The quicker we do that the better and then we can really start looking towards next season.”
