Nathan Jones is looking to make it back-to-back wins in the Sky Bet Championship on Friday night when his side take on Queens Park Rangers at The Valley (KO 8.01pm GMT).
The Addicks claimed an impressive 2-0 win away at Leicester City last weekend thanks to goals from Sonny Carey and Lyndon Dykes.
"I think any win in the Championship is important. We wanted a reaction to the performance levels of late and we got that. The performance level was considerably better than the week before and it had to be," the gaffer explained.
"We've come a long way and we're facing sides who have had a longer time at this level to prepare and recruit. The Millwall game was unacceptable and we realise that. My job is to keep a level head, an equilibrium and to keep the football club moving forward."
Miles Leaburn was substituted at half-time against Leicester City, after picking up a shoulder injury.
"He fell awkwardly on it, it was nothing serious," Jones said. "He's been in really good form, he looks like a proper number nine now. He has always had special talent, he's a handful, he's more aggressive, the work rate, everything about him, we're really pleased with him.
"It's a race against time for him so we're hoping that he comes through. He's out on the grass today running and everything, so that's hopeful."
The winter window saw a number of comings and goings for the Addicks, and Jones assessed the period overall as a successful one.
"We've done the business that we wanted to and a bit more. Kaheim [Dixon] will go with the U21s group because we want to give him that game time and we felt his game time [at Crawley Town] had curtailed a bit.
"We needed to get wide players in and left-sided players in, and we were able to do that. We brought some of our summer business forward with Collins [Sichenje]. He's up to speed, and he's a super athlete as you would expect. He will take a bit of time to adapt to English football and Championship football, but we're delighted with him.
"We managed to find excellent loans for a lot of our good players and that shows that we have taken big strides forward."
QPR ran out 3-1 victors in the reverse fixture at MATRADE Loftus Road back in August.
"We felt we should have done better at QPR away," Jones said.
"We started poorly and didn't handle those first 10 minutes really well, and then we dominated the game for long periods. There are so many margins in the game, you need to come out on the right side and we didn't on that occasion and so we want to put that right.
"We want to win a home game, get three points and get closer to what we want to achieve."
This week marked the second anniversary of Jones' appointment as Charlton boss.
"I'm very proud to be the manager of this football club. I love the rapport we have with the fans. It's been a relentless two years, but every day I get to manage this wonderful football club. It takes a lot of people to come together and I'm very proud of that."
