Nathan Jones looked ahead to his side's final day clash in the Sky Bet Championship, as they take on Swansea City (KO 12.30pm BST).
The Addicks secured their second-tier status last time out in a 2-1 win over Hull City at The Valley and can now go into the trip to south Wales with the pressure off.
But Jones insists that the Addicks won't be resting on their laurels against the Swans.
"It is very difficult; I don’t want to play it down. We don’t just celebrate staying up but making sure that we are a Championship team next year means that we can keep moving forward," he explained.
"If we didn’t, it is very difficult to bounce back when you take a step back. Have we made it hard for ourselves? Yes, we have. There were four home games that we lost on the spin, that could have gone either way, we should have had significantly more points, which I feel would be a reflection of where we are as a Championship team," he added.
"If you look at where we are, and where we were two years ago, I am extremely proud of that journey, that culminated in beating Hull City on Saturday. They are a fantastic football team, that have promotion aspirations, but we have proven that we can compete with anyone at this level.
"What we need to do now is add a bit more consistency and a bit more quality and then we can start making waves ourselves like we did for the first 15 games."
"We now have to evolve and get better, I want us to have stuff to play for in the last two games next season, but I don’t want it to be what we had to play for this week."
"I am proud of where we are, I love this football club," added Jones.
"I am immersed in this place. I came here for a project and to build something. We have had to dig deep and show tactical awareness, at times we come unstuck because teams have fantastic quality, but generally we are a really competitive side.
"This is a proper football club now; the fans have backed us and got involved. When we get 20,000+ crowds, 23k, 24k attendances, they have shown they can get behind us. We want more, we want to fill the stadium, but we have to evolve and give them a product that leaves little to the imagination."
Jones' side has been plagued with injuries over the past week, but explains that his players have sacrificed a lot to get the Addicks over the line.
"This season has taken its toll, and people have gone through a lot to get us over the line," he explained.
"They have played through illness and injuries and shown real humility. Every day we are dusting them down and asking them to go once more, one more big effort.
"All we are thinking about is to win the next football match, we want to go and finish as high as we possibly can. We want to win the game."
"We play Dartford in pre-season; we want to win the game. We go to Slovenia, and we want to win the game. We play in the Carabao Cup, we want to win the game. We go to Swansea away on the last game of the season, we want to win the game. I am very proud of the team we are."
"We ask the players for one last effort, and we want the fans to do that as part of this football club as well."
