Nathan Jones was pleased with how his side adapted to a very physical game against playoff rivals Stockport County in a 0-0 draw at Edgeley Park.

The Addicks kept a 16th clean sheet in the league this season to secure a point on the road against fourth-placed County.

“It was a very difficult game, a very physical game,” Jones said. “They went direct, they went into the front, they had two big players up front, so we had to really show a different side of our qualities today. Our battling qualities, our aggression.

“It was very difficult to press because they didn’t really give us that opportunity. They bypassed the press, so we had to show different qualities. We had to defend our box, the keeper had to make one save but it was a really, really tight game.

“The first half I thought we were the better side, the second half I think they edged it. It was probably a fair result really but it’s a tough place to come – it was a real tough game, so it’s a good point really.”
