Karen Hills named November Manager of the Month

Charlton Head Coach Karen Hills has been named Barclays Women's Championship Manager of the Month for November, as voted by the LMA panel.

Hills' side went undefeated in November, recording two impressive wins against Lewes and Southampton in the league as well as picking up a point in a top-of-the-table clash against Sunderland at The Valley which drew in a crowd of over 1,000.

The Addicks then rounded off the month with an impressive 1-0 victory against Birmingham in the Continental Cup group stages.

Upon being awarded Manager of the Month, Hills highlighted that the award is an 'honour' and offered praise to staff and players: "It’s always a great honour to win this award as it shows the work my staff and I are doing day in, day out with the players is working, as the team is putting in winning performances on the pitch.

"I have an unbelievable group of staff who work together to prepare this team to win week in, week out. The players themselves are a talented group who have set high standards for themselves and their teammates which is a fantastic combination to creating a winning team.

"Every game is a chance for us to improve and the players are responding to that challenge. Going to Southampton was always going to be a hard-fought game, however, I feel my players showed their togetherness on that day and played unbelievably well to get the win."

The Addicks currently sit top of the Barclays Women's Championship table and are undefeated in the league since September. Hills' side has one final league meeting in 2023 with a trip to Bramall Lane to face Sheffield United.

"It’s about staying in the moment and enjoying the feeling. We have to continue to work hard in everything we do to always want that feeling as nothing is a given and we have to keep earning it, but staying together working hard for each other and playing with the belief that we will win the next game."

Hills' side will begin their Adobe Women's FA Cup campaign this Sunday (December, 10th) with a trip to the Vitality Stadium to face Bournemouth in the third round of this season's competition.
