Charlie Kelman was delighted with the Addicks' 2-1 win over Hull City, that helped seal Charlton's Sky Bet Championship status next season.
"It has been a difficult season for myself, for the club, for the fans, for everyone involved," Kelman explained.
"We could have had it done [secured Championship status] after the Oxford [away] game, and we sort of limped over the line."
The forward's first-half wonderstrike helped put the Addicks in front at The Valley.
"I mean I had one [a chance], where I was down the side and I tried to cross it to Knibbsy. I though you know what with the next one, I am going to have a dig. I got round him [the defender], brushed him off the ball and I only had one thought on my mind," he said.
"As soon as it left my boot, I started running, because you just have that feeling!"
There were over 20,000 supporters in SE7 on Saturday afternoon that got behind Nathan Jones' side, as the Addicks came away with all three points.
"The Valley played such an important part today, I felt the fans’ frustration. We know it, we feel it, but we came up through the play-offs"
"What a club, what a fan base, what a team, we care. We care as a team, playing with knocks, with injuries. The Skipper even played with a popped groin near the end and that is everything that the club is about," he said.
"Now we now have a big summer, a big pre-season and we kick on again next year."
