Academy graduates Daniel Kanu and Micah Mbick were both on the scoresheet as the pair continued their impressive form.
Kanu netted the opener for Walsall, who ran out 2-0 victors against Harrogate Town at The Exercise Stadium to return to the top of the Sky Bet League Two table.
Elsewhere in the fourth tier, Mbick struck his sixth goal of the campaign for Colchester United as the U’s claimed a 3-1 victory over Notts County at Meadow Lane.
Kaheim Dixon featured for Crawley Town, playing 16 minutes in their 1-1 draw with Accrington Stanley.
In Sky Bet League One, Alex Mitchell played the full 90 and kept a clean sheet in Plymouth Argyle’s 1-0 win away at Port Vale.
Terry Taylor played the entirety of Northampton Town's 3-1 loss against table toppers Cardiff City, while Nathan Asiimwe was a late substitute in AFC Wimbledon's 2-1 reverse against Wigan Athletic at Plough Lane.
Further down the pyramid, Tommy Reid featured in goal for Sutton United, as they ran out 3-2 victors against Truro City in the National League.
Ollie Hobden and Toby Bower both featured for Farnborough, as they travelled to Enfield Town. Both players were substituted in the second half as Boro fell to a 5-1 loss.
Gassan Ahadme (Stevenage) and Zach Mitchell (Hibernian) did not feature in the matchday squads for their respective loan clubs.
