Mandela Egbo came through his league debut at Fleetwood unscathed and Ryan Inniss is available again following a one-match suspension.

Steven Sessegnon (hamstring) is back available for the Addicks, though Joe Wollacott is currently away on international duty with Ghana. The Black Stars take on Brazil in Le Havre tonight (7.30pm KO BST).

Garner confirmed in his Friday press conference that Craig MacGillivray is set to make his first start of the season at Oakwell on Saturday and wideman Charlie Kirk will also travel.

Saturday's game comes too soon for striker Chuks Aneke (calf), who has been back out on the grass at Sparrows Lane this week.

The hosts will be without goalkeeper Brad Collins (concussion) and Luca Connell (hamstring), but centre-back Liam Kitching could return following a one-match suspension.

Barnsley currently sit sixth in the League One table and come into the contest enjoying a four-game unbeaten run across all competitions.

Michael Duff’s side put paid to Cambridge United’s 100 per cent home record at Abbey Stadium last time out, claiming a 3-0 win despite being reduced to 10 men.

Charlton and Barnsley have gone toe-to-toe on 52 previous occasions with the Addicks winning 20, the Tykes 17 and the remaining 15 encounters resulting in draws.

The last meeting between the two sides came at The Valley in February 2020. First-half goals from Lyle Taylor and Andre Green earned the hosts victory, despite Cauley Woodrow’s strike 19 minutes from time.

Adam Herczeg will control proceedings on Saturday afternoon. The official has never refereed a fixture involving the Addicks previously.

Herczeg will be assisted by Chris Isherwood and Paul Newhouse, while Billy Smallwood is the Fourth Official.

The Addicks will be donning their blue third kit in south Yorkshire.

Tickets will be available to purchase on the day from Oakwell’s main Ticket Office.
