The Addicks head into this Sunday’s fixture off the back of a strong performance at St. Mary’s Stadium last weekend. Charlton claimed their first three points of the season against a solid, newly-promoted Southampton side that only lost just once last season. A first-half penalty was slotted home by the Addicks skipper Emily Simpkins before Mel Johnson doubled Charlton’s lead just minutes after the break.

Saturday’s win saw Charlton rise to the top of the Barclays Women’s Championship.

The visitors, London City Lionesses fell short of Crystal Palace on the opening day of the season. A second-half strike from defender Isabella Sibley separated the sides, with The Eagles taking home their first points of the season.

Sunday’s opponents ended their 2021/22 campaign with a win as they hosted Blackburn Rovers at the Princes Park Stadium back in May. Melissa Phillips' side finished 2nd in the Barclays Women’s Championship last season, rounding up 41 points across the season.

The two teams locked horns on two occasions last season, with either side claiming a 2-0 victory over the other. The first meeting saw Karen Hills’ Addicks come out triumphant, an early first-half header from England U19 International Mia Ross and an own goal from Harley Bennett meant that the Addicks walked away victorious on derby day.

However a brace from London City forward, Karin Muya, meant that Charlton were defeated in the return fixture as the Addicks travelled to the Princes Park Stadium back in April earlier this year.

The Addicks will be sporting their home kit on Sunday.
