MATCH PREVIEW | Charlton v Plymouth Argyle

'

Charlton return to The Valley on Tuesday night as Plymouth Argyle visit the capital (7.45pm KO BST).

The Addicks will be looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the 2022/23 campaign in SE7, following on from an encouraging performance at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

TEAM NEWS

Manager Ben Garner expects Addicks captain Jayden Stockley (illness) to be available, though Tuesday's fixture will fall too soon for Mandela Egbo (knee) and Chuks Aneke (calf).

The visitors, meanwhile, will be without the services of James Bolton (foot), Conor Grant (groin), Panutche Camara (groin) and Mickel Miller (thigh).

THE OPPOSITION

Plymouth travel to The Valley buoyed by a 2-0 triumph over Peterborough United at Home Park last time out, leaving the Devon side sat fifth in Sky Bet League One at this early stage.

Manager Steven Schumacher will be hoping to guide his side to a top-six finish in what is the 38-year-old's first full campaign in charge of the Pilgrims.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

Charlton and Plymouth have gone toe-to-toe on 74 previous occasions with the Addicks winning 31, the Pilgrims 28 and the remaining 15 encounters resulting in draws.

The last meeting between the two sides came at Home Park in December 2021, when Kieran Agard's strike earned the hosts a narrow victory.

'

Plymouth's last visit to The Valley, meanwhile, yielded a 2-0 victory for the Addicks - with Ben Purrington and Conor Washington both on the scoresheet.

MATCH OFFICIALS

Sam Purkiss will be the man in the middle on Tuesday night. The official last refereed a Charlton fixture in April 2022 - a 2-0 triumph over Shrewsbury Town in SE7.
