MATCH PREVIEW | Lewes vs Charlton

Charlton

The Addicks are back on the road this Friday for the first of two back-to-back away games, with the first coming against Lewes.

In their previous outing, Charlton extended their unbeaten run in the league to five games with an impressive 3-2 derby day triumph against Crystal Palace at The Valley.

Angela Addison etched her name onto the scoresheet early on with a sensational strike in the opening quarter of an hour and Anna Filbey turned a cross into her own net moments before the interval. With fourteen minutes remaining of the 90, Charlton took the lead once again through substitute Melissa Johnson who scored with her second touch of the fixture.

Lewes

Scott Booth’s side currently sit bottom of the Barclays Women’s Championship, picking up four points in their opening eight fixtures.

The Rooks were condemned to a 2-0 defeat at The Dripping Pan in their previous outing against top-of-the-table Sunderland. Two first-half strikes from Jenna Dear and Elizabeta Ejupi put the Black Cats two goals to the good ahead of the interval and saw Lewes suffer their sixth league defeat of the season.

Head-to-Head

The last meeting between the two sides came back in March 2023 as the Addicks secured a 1-0 win at The Oakwood - with Freda Ayisi netting the all-important winner in the 71st minute to break the deadlock and secure all three points.

Charlton’s last trip to The Dripping Pan saw the hosts claim a 2-1 victory in league action. Kiera Skeels netted an equaliser for the Addicks in the 17th minute. However, Paula Howells’ 53rd-minute winner saw Lewes claim victory on the day.
