Safe standing at The Valley in 2024/25

The club’s intention is to introduce a safe standing section in the Covered End Upper for the 2024/25 season.

Season tickets for the 2024/25 campaign are now on sale with nearly 1,000 tickets available in the area at the back of the Covered End Upper set to be designated for safe standing. These seats are the back eight rows of the Covered End Upper.

The club have worked closely with Charlton Athletic Supporters’ Trust and the Sports Ground Safety Authority to identify an area suitable for safe standing and the intention is for the appropriate changes to be made over the summer in time for the safe-standing section to be in place for the start of the 2024/25 season.

Safe standing areas permit supporters to stand for the duration of a match. Standing is not required in these areas, however, supporters risk restricted views of the pitch if they are seated when surrounded by standing supporters.

Chairman of the Charlton Athletic Board James Rodwell said: “Our operations team have been going above and beyond to put us in a position to bring safe standing to The Valley next season.

“Our work has progressed well in recent months and while we still have a few final bits to do, we’re confident the installation will take place over the summer.

“We’d like to thank Charlton Athletic Supporters’ Trust and the Sports Ground Safety Authority who have played their part in the project to date.

“We appreciate that safe standing may not be for everyone and our ticketing team will be happy to help any season-ticket holders looking to relocate. In addition, with the changes, six season-ticket holders' seats will have to be removed and we’ll be in touch with them directly to support their relocation.”
