TEAM NEWS | Full league debut for Kanu for Holden's first game

Dean Holden will hand academy starlet Daniel Kanu a full league debut in his first game in charge against Peterborough United at The Valley this afternoon.

Holden makes two changes from the side that progressed past Brighton & Hove Albion in the Carabao Cup in midweek as Sean Clare returns to the starting line-up following a one-match suspension.

Speaking to CharltonTV ahead of today’s game, Holden explained how impressed he has been with Kanu in training.

It means the Addicks are likely to line-up in a 3-5-2 formation, with Ryan Inniss, Sam Lavelle and Lucas Ness making up a back three in front of Ashley Maynard-Brewer.

Sean Clare and Steven Sessegnon will likely operate as wing-backs with skipper George Dobson, Jack Payne and Scott Fraser working in a midfield three behind Kanu and Miles Leaburn.

Albie Morgan misses the game with illness, so Charlton’s bench is made up of Craig MacGillivray, Zach Mitchell, Aaron Henry, Charlie Kirk, Jes Rak-Sakyi, Corey Blackett-Taylor and Jayden Stockley.

Charlton: Maynard-Brewer; Inniss, Lavelle, Ness; Clare, Dobson (c), Payne, Fraser, Sessegnon; Kanu, Leaburn

Substitutes: MacGillivray, Mitchell, Henry, Kirk, Rak-Sakyi, Blackett-Taylor, Stockley
