Tiernan Brooks joins the Addicks

Charlton Athletic are delighted to announce the signing of goalkeeper Tiernan Brooks from Gateshead.

The 23-year-old has put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half year deal, with a club option of a further year.

Manager Director James Rodwell commented: "Tiernan is an excellent, young goalkeeper with a bright future ahead of him. The departure of Ashley has freed up space to allow us to bring in Tiernan and we’re looking forward to watching him develop over time at Charlton."

Manager Nathan Jones added: "Tiernan is someone we're delighted to bring in. He's been an excellent keeper for Gateshead. Ashley Maynard-Brewer had an opportunity to leave and we felt that was the right thing to do for him, provided we could bring in a younger one that could really add competition and quality, and could be with us for a number of years. We feel we've done that with Tiernan."

After completing his move, Brooks said: "I'm buzzing it's finally over the line and I really can't wait to get going. I came to The Valley when I was younger to watch Charlton play Sheffield Wednesday and it's a beautiful stadium."

The Sheffield-born stopper came through the academy at Notts County and gained valuable senior experience during a number of loan spells, before joining Gateshead in the summer of 2024.

A Republic of Ireland youth international, Brooks has represented his country five times at U21s level.

The Addicks return to The Valley on Friday, February 6th to take on Queens Park Rangers. Click here to purchase your tickets now.
