U18 CUP REPORT | Charlton 2 Aston Villa 3

'

Charlton’s U18s bowed out of the Premier League Cup at the semi-final stage after suffering a 3-2 defeat to Aston Villa at Sparrows Lane.

After Omari Kellyman had fired the visitors ahead from close range on the half-hour mark, Kai Enslin drew the young Addicks level on the stroke of half-time when he headed home Harvey Kedwell’s corner.

Villa regained their lead moments after the hour-mark as Rory Wilson fired his spot-kick beyond Henry Molyneux.

Jason Pearce’s side responded well and restored parity just 15 minutes later, when visiting defender Finley Munroe could only turn into his own net.

Six minutes from time, Kadan Young cut in from the left and sent an unstoppable right-footed effort past Molyneux and into the top-right corner.

The referee showed Young a red card with minutes remaining, but the Villans weathered the young Addicks’ late surge to progress to the final.

The U18s are next in action on Saturday, March 18, when Hull City visit Sparrows Lane.
