U18 REPORT | Charlton 3 Bristol City 4

'

The Addicks’ U18s suffered a 4-3 defeat at the hands of Bristol City on Saturday afternoon.

Ryan Huke, Toby Bower and Micah Mbick were all on target for Jason Pearce’s side at Sparrows Lane but it was the visitors who edged the seven-goal thriller.

Having fallen behind early on, Charlton struck back through Huke on 20 minutes. The electric Henry Rylah raced down the right flank and pulled the ball back for the advancing midfielder, who coolly stroked home to restore parity.

The Robins re-took the lead before the interval courtesy of their number 11, who rifled an unstoppable left-footed strike past Ahmed Kone.

Bristol City extended their advantage soon after the restart when a man in white nodded home a dangerous corner at the far post.

Captain Bower halved the young Addicks’ arrears on the hour-mark with a clinical spot-kick, only for the visitors to restore their two-goal cushion through a penalty of their own.

Substitute Mbick sparked hopes of a Charlton comeback 15 minutes from time when he latched onto Patrick Casey’s deft flick and slotted home, though an equaliser ultimately proved elusive as the Robins held on.

Pearce’s U18s return to action on Wednesday, Feburary 22nd with a trip to Cardiff City.
