U18 REPORT | Charlton 5 Hull City 2

'

Five-star Charlton U18s claimed a comprehensive 5-2 victory over their Hull City counterparts at Sparrows Lane on Saturday.

The prolific Patrick Casey bagged four goals to continue his rich vein of form and Toby Bower was also on target in a rampant display from Jason Pearce’s side.

The young Addicks opened the scoring in SE9 after just three minutes through Casey, who capitalised on a loose touch from a Hull defender and slotted past the visiting stopper.

Charlton doubled their advantage just six minutes later. Henry Rylah’s fancy footwork took him past Hull’s left-back and he produced a fine cross for the onrushing Bower, who powered home a first-time effort.

Casey doubled his tally and put the young Addicks into a three-goal lead on the stroke of half-time when he rifled into the bottom-right corner after being picked out by Jacob Safa.

Ryan Huke teed up Casey to complete his hat-trick six minutes after the restart as the Irish forward turned well and drilled home coolly following patient build-up play from Charlton.

Casey had his fourth just moments later. Bower played a clever free-kick into the striker’s path and he made no mistake from close range.

Glen Sani and Jake Brown pulled back two back for the visitors in the latter stages, though they would prove to be nothing more than consolation goals as Pearce’s side returned to winning ways in fine fashion.

The U18s are next in action on Saturday, March 25th when Wigan Athletic visit Sparrows Lane (KO 10.30am).
