Charlton’s U18s played out an entertaining 3–3 draw with Colchester United’s U18s on Saturday afternoon.
The young Addicks started the game strongly, but a flurry of second-half penalties for the visitors meant that the points were shared.
Jason Pearce's side opened the scoring within fifteen minutes through Ellis McMillan, who produced a lovely turn and finish to break the deadlock.
Colchester were level five minutes after, through Josh Adesenya.
Ed Thomas restored the young Addicks' advantage on 31 minutes after the ball fell to the midfielder inside the box.
Kacper Podgorny put Charlton 3-1 up before half-time with a curling shot from the left-hand side that nestled into the top-right corner.
Charlton were in control at the break, however, the young Addicks conceded two penalties in the second half, both of which were converted by Colchester's James Sasere.
