Karen Hills celebrates 150 games in charge

Karen Hills and Kiera Skeels Charlton Athletic Women's Football Club 150 matches as head coach

This afternoon's Adobe Women's FA Cup fourth round fixture against Swindon Town marked a key milestone for Karen Hills as she celebrated 150 matches as Head Coach for Charlton's Women.

Originally spending six years as a key player for the Addicks from 2001-2007, Hills has solidified her well-earned spot as a legend for the club as both a player and staff member.

Many fans will know our gaffer best for her key role as our centre back in the club's iconic 2005 Women's FA Cup win after reaching the final four times consecutively. Overall, Hills' playing career with the club spanned from 2001 to 2007, encapsulating 156 total appearances alongside FA Women's Community Shield and FA Women's Premier League Cup wins.

Speaking on her time at the club, so far, Hills said "I’m extremely proud of my journey at Charlton - from wearing the shirt as a player 20 years ago to now leading the team as Head Coach.

"Reaching 150 games is a special milestone and one that fills me with immense pride."

Hills returned to the club in a staffing capacity when she joined as Women's First-Team Head Coach in March 2021.

Since then, she has led the team to gradually climb the league standings from an eighth place finish in her first season to leaders of the Barclays WSL 2 as of January 2026, achieving a streak of over a full calendar year unbeaten in the league.

Hills' side marked the landmark match with a 10-0 win, showing the collective's intentions in the competition as they launch into 2026 and towards the fifth round of the Adobe Women's FA Cup.
