Charlton's U21s secured their progression to the Premier League Cup knockout stages with an impressive 3-1 triumph at Birmingham City on Monday night.
Ryan Huke was at the double for the young Addicks, alongside a second-half scorcher from Kaheim Dixon at The Arden Garages Stadium.
Chris Lock’s side took the lead inside 21 minutes as Alan Mwamba’s cross was met by Huke, who converted at the near post with a neat finish.
Just moments after the interval, Dixon extended Charlton's lead with a superb strike. The Jamaican international bolted down the flank, thundering an outstanding, volleyed effort into the far corner, looping his strike over the hosts’ stopper.
The young Addicks went three to the good shortly after as Mwamba and Huke combined once again. In similar to the first, Mwamba crossed for Huke, allowing the midfielder to secure his brace with a tidy finish.
The hosts responded quickly, pulling back what proved to be a consolation almost instantaneously. George Wynne let fly with a delightful strike from distance, which sailed into the top corner from range.
The result leaves Lock's team sat top of Group H ahead of their final fixture at home to Stockport County next month.
Charlton's U21s are next in action on Friday, hosting Cardiff City at Sparrows Lane in Professional Development League Two action (KO 1pm GMT).
