U21 CUP REPORT | Hanwell Town 3 Charlton 2

'

Charlton’s U21s exited the London Senior Cup following a 3-2 defeat to defending champions Hanwell Town.

Patrick Casey’s quickfire double sparked a second-half fightback for the young Addicks, though their efforts fell just short.

Hanwell Town opened the scoring inside five minutes. Harry Rice fired his side in front after capitalising on a defensive mix-up at the back from Charlton.

On 33 minutes, Alfie Pendlebury doubled the home side’s lead, and the young Addicks trailed 2-0 at half-time.

Patrick Casey led the response for the team in the second half, as he netted twice in quick succession to draw Charlton level.

The score didn’t remain level for long, as Mo Bettamer scored on 75 minutes to restore the Hanwell Town’s lead.

Casey came close to a hat-trick in stoppage time but fired his shot narrowly wide of the post.

The U21s return to action at The Valley on Tuesday November 18th, when they host Ipswich Town in the Premier League Cup (KO 7pm GMT).
