Charlton Athletic and Dane Murphy have mutually agreed that he will not be taking up the role of Chief Executive Officer, as previously announced.
Club Chairman Gavin Carter said: "This decision was made in light of personal and professional considerations on Dane’s part, and we fully respect and support his choice.
"While Dane had not formally commenced the position, we are grateful for the time and effort he dedicated during the exploratory and planning phases. We thank him for his integrity throughout this process and wish him the very best in his future endeavours.
"The club’s Board and ownership will now evaluate the next steps. In the meantime, the club will continue to be led by the current leadership team, who have done an excellent job - overseeing a strong finish to last season and managing a busy and productive summer.
"This summer has seen our men’s first-team make eight new signings, our women’s first-team make six new signings, the appointment of a new Commercial Director, and growing momentum following our Wembley success. We’ve experienced record merchandise sales, season ticket sales at the highest levels in at least 17 years and anticipate our opening match of the season, against Watford on August 9th, to be our highest-attended home opener in at least 16 years.
"That busy and productive summer has also been reflected in the work going on at The Valley with upgrades made around the stadium and the phased introduction over the next few months of new LEDs, floodlights and big screen.
"It's an exciting time for the club and I'd like to thank our hardworking staff and fantastic supporters as we look to continue to build together."
