Robinson praises Keith Peacock and advises fans to keep an eye on Lee Bowyer at Legends United

Karl Robinson reserved special praise for Charlton Athletic legend Keith Peacock and said fans should keep an eye out for Lee Bowyer at today’s Legends United game.

The match kicks off at The Valley at 1pm today and a full match preview, with ticket news, can be found here.

Keith Peacock has worked closely with Charlton Athletic Community Trust in organising the game which celebrates 25 years of the club’s return to The Valley and 25 years of the Trust’s work in the community.

Legends such as Alan Curbishley, Chris Powell and Clive Mendonca are set to play a part at today’s event and Robinson said he’d be here with his family to watch.

He said: “I think it’s fantastic. Everyone knows how hard Keith works behind the scenes. He’s here most days and a lot of home games and for him to put something on like this is impressive. I think it’s great that fans can relive moments from days in the past. To have so many ex-players to have the opportunity to grace The Valley again is great.

“Bow (Lee Bowyer) and Jason (Euell) will be playing and we’ve been having a joke that Jacko (Johnnie Jackson) may play 20 minutes to top his fitness levels up. Bow has started a bit of training so I think everyone should be a bit worried.

“It’s great seeing the players coming back. When I first walked in the door Matt Holland came down and had a chat with me about what the club was like to be here, so it will be nice to see him. Me and my family will be here, watching the game and supporting Keith and the people taking the pitch. It’s going to be a great day, especially as it’s for charity as well. We’re hoping for a good crowd, so let’s see the Valley in all its glory with some of the great names of the past on the pitch.”

Tickets are available on the door at The Valley today and fans are advised to get to the ground well in advance to avoid missing any of the game. For more information on the game click here
