Lee Bowyer says that Charlton are exploring the free agent market.
The Addicks brought in striker Josh Parker from Gillingham on transfer deadline day and, speaking at his pre-Southend United press conference on Thursday morning, the boss revealed that he is always on the lookout for players who could improve his squad.
“We aren’t close to anything but we have had a couple of conversations with someone who has just become a free agent,” Bowyer said ahead of Saturday’s home game.
“People are putting names forward to us all the time now because they know our situation. Anyone who comes in has to improve us; if they don’t then there is no point.
“We have looked at free agents before now, as we haven’t had any money to spend, and we are asking questions.”
