Bowyer on Swansea defeat, not being awarded a penalty and Charlton's first 10 games

Charlton boss Lee Bowyer was pleased with the effort he saw in his team as Swansea City edged past the Addicks 2-1 at The Valley to go top of the Sky Bet Championship.

Below are some of the talking points.

On his team's performance...

"I can’t fault the boys. I know before the game they’ll give me 100%. They always give me everything. On another day we get something from the game. Obviously, I’m disappointed that we haven’t got the three points. We played against a good Swansea side. They move the ball well, we limited them and were just as good as them but from the set piece we didn’t win the first contact, then we didn’t win the second contact and it’s cost us."

On scoring an early goal...

"I think we came out of the traps really well. For the first 20 minutes I thought we were the better side then they got back into it and started to take a bit of control. It was quite even. They had a bit of pressure, then we had a bit of pressure. I feel it was a good game for the neutral to watch but it’s unfortunate for our lads who gave everything, but we lost from a corner."

On Charlton not being awarded a penalty...

"Referees have the hardest job in the world, I think. If he’d have given it, their manager would have said it wasn’t a penalty. So, I don’t know. It’s one of those things. We didn’t get the decision go our way today but big decisions start evening themselves out a lot of times today. 50/50 things we didn’t get for whatever reason so it’s disappointing but if we keep working like that and playing like that, we’ll be okay."

On Charlton's first 10 games...

"(It's gone) Very well. I think we’ve proven that after 10 games we deserve to be in this league. My job is to keep us in this league and if we keep working like that, I’m sure we’ll be okay."
