U18S REPORT | Ipswich Town 1 Charlton 0

Charlton’s U18s slipped to just their second defeat of the season on January 11th, with Ipswich Town claiming a 1-0 victory in Suffolk.

A single second-half goal was enough for the Tractor Boys to secure the points, despite the Addicks carving out a decent number of chances in the first half.

Richard Afrane-Kesey hit the side-netting early on, while Mo Buhari’s excellent run into the box resulted in his cross rolling across the face of goal with no one able to get the all-important touch to turn it in.

Nathan Harvey was called into action before the break, making a superb save from Ipswich’s number 10 who burst into the box, only to be denied by the young Addicks stopper one-on-one.

The second period would prove to be a cagier affair, but the hosts grabbed their winner just six minutes after the restart when a cross from the right was headed home from close-range following a half-cleared corner.

Charlton could not find a way to trouble their hosts for an equaliser as the clock ticked down and it would ultimately end in disappointment as the Tractor Boys held on for victory.
