Charlton fan Christine looking to get people singing for NHS on FA Cup Final Day

A Charlton fan is trumpeting a campaign to get all fans singing 'Abide With Me' on the day the FA Cup Final was initially set for.

Christine May has been a Charlton fan since 1966 when her dad bought her first season tickets, now she's getting involved with the #AbideWithMeNHS campaign to raise money for NHS Charities Together, supporting staff and volunteers caring for Covid-19 patients.

On Saturday, May 23rd at 5.30pm Christine will join her former FA Fans' Choir colleagues, based around the United Kingdom, in singing the famous song which is traditionally played before an FA Cup Final.

The group want all football fans around the country to join in and sing on their doorsteps to celebrate the game and the great work being done around the country.

A Just Giving page has been set up so all that take part can donate to an important cause.

Christine explained: "The reason I got involved in this is because it links the devastating impact the Coronavirus has had on us all with my love for Charlton Athletic. Like all Charlton fans I am missing my Saturday and midweek footy but, I am lucky because I have lost no loved ones to the virus.

"Although there are many fundraising projects around, this one is close to my heart because the money it raises will go to benefit those at the forefront of the fight against the virus and to the families of those whose lives have been lost in their efforts to save others."
