MATCH PREVIEW | Charlton Women v Blackburn Rovers

Charlton Women return from the international break to take on Blackburn Rovers at the Oakwood on Sunday afternoon (12pm).

Karen Hills’ side will be looking to make it two from two on home soil this term, having kicked off their 2021/22 FA Women’s Championship campaign with a 3-1 triumph over Coventry United in Crayford.

That preceded a 2-0 reverse against Durham at Maiden Castle before the international break, with goals coming from Kathryn Hill and Beth Hepple either side of the interval.

The last meeting between the two sides came at the County Ground in April and saw the visitors narrowly prevail, Jess King striking 12 minutes from time to fire the Addicks into the quarter-finals of the Vitality Women’s FA Cup.

Rovers’ last visit to the Oakwood, meanwhile, came in January as the sides shared the spoils. Rachel Newborough opened the scoring from the penalty spot on 14 minutes, before Elise Hughes - who joined the Addicks from Everton this summer after a fruitful loan spell with Sunday’s opponents - converted a spot-kick of her own to level proceedings midway through the second period.
