MATCH PREVIEW | Charlton v Burton Albion

Charlton return to The Valley for the second time in four days on Saturday afternoon (3pm), this time taking on Burton Albion.

Buoyed by a first win in eight against Neil Harris’ Gillingham in midweek, the Addicks will be looking to record back-to-back triumphs for the first time since February.

TEAM NEWS

Speaking in his Thursday press conference, Johnnie Jackson confirmed he expects Jason Pearce (foot) to feature against the Brewers this weekend, while fellow defender Akin Famewo (illness) is back in contention having recently resumed training at Sparrows Lane.

There could also be a return to the matchday squad for Stephen Henderson (calf), though Ryan Inniss (thigh) and Chuks Aneke remain sidelined.

Jake Forster-Caskey (ACL) marked his return to action with a goal inside 25 seconds for Charlton’s U23s at Watford on Tuesday, but the midfielder is set to gain more match minutes with Anthony Hayes’ young Addicks before returning to the first-team fold.

Burton trio Williams Kokolo, Adlène Guedioura and Joe Powell are all available for the visitors once again having been absent last weekend.

THE OPPOSITION

Burton ended their five-game winless run in style last weekend, overturning a 2-0 deficit against Fleetwood Town to claim a much-needed triumph in Staffordshire.

That result leaves Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s side sitting comfortably in mid-table, four points above the Addicks but having played a game more.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

Charlton and Burton have gone toe-to-toe on six previous occasions with the Addicks winning four and the Brewers two.

Ben Purrington’s first-half header saw the Addicks edge a fiercely-contested reverse fixture at the Pirelli Stadium in November, while Burton earned a 2-1 win on their last visit to SE7.

MATCH OFFICIALS

Rebecca Welch will control proceedings on Saturday afternoon, overseeing her first fixture involving the Addicks.

Welch will be assisted by Scott Williams and Gareth Viccars, while Ravel Cheosiaua is the Fourth Official.
