CACT celebrate 2025 Young Greenwich Awards

Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) recently celebrated the 2025 Young Greenwich Awards, hosted at the University of Greenwich, recognising the achievements of the young people and partners involved in CACT’s youth service.

CACT have delivered the Royal Borough of Greenwich’s universal youth provision, Young Greenwich, since April 2012. Over the years, the annual awards evening has become a key fixture in the youth service's calendar, providing an opportunity to showcase the positive impact young people are making in their communities.

On the night, a variety of awards, including The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE), were presented to young people from Young Greenwich’s four youth hubs based across the borough, while Young Greenwich partner Metro Judo Club were also recognised. The awards celebrated the talent, commitment and achievements shown by participants both in the youth service and beyond.

The ceremony was attended by award winners’ families and friends, alongside many special guests, including Linda Bird (Mayor of Greenwich), Averil Lekau (Royal Borough of Greenwich Deputy Leader), Adel Khaireh (Royal Borough of Greenwich Cabinet Member for Children and Young People) and Ann Marie Cousins (Councillor for Abbey Wood). Several of these guests were invited on stage to present awards to the young people.

Following the presentation of the awards, Mayor of Greenwich Linda Bird said: “If you're talking about Charlton and you're talking about the world of youth, then the relationship between the Royal Borough of Greenwich and CACT is bar none. We have grown and developed alongside CACT, and that relationship continues to be cemented. We would never be in this position if it wasn’t for Charlton Athletic - we wouldn’t be able to celebrate these young people. CACT are the backbone of our youth provision and we couldn’t do it without them.”
