Celebrating 2025 Red, White and Black Day

'

More than 500 students from local schools and community groups will take part in Charlton Athletic’s annual Red, White and Black Day parade, a flagship celebration of unity and togetherness, ahead of the Addicks’ home fixture against Sheffield Wednesday at The Valley on Saturday, October 18th (KO 3pm BST).

Red, White and Black Day is a cornerstone of Charlton Athletic’s long-standing commitment to equality and inclusion, woven into the fabric of the club. A proud part of the club’s identity for more than 30 years, the initiative continues to unite players, fans, staff, partners and the wider community.

This year’s parade, delivered in partnership with the Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) and the University of Greenwich, will begin at Charlton Station and conclude at The Valley. It will be led by Paul Elliott CBE MBE, the club Board's Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Lead.

On the day, Charlton’s players will also wear special Red, White and Black Day warm-up shirts, donated by club partner Reebok.

The event will coincide with the University of Greenwich’s annual takeover day, with around 300 university students, staff and alumni set to attend the fixture.

The club's Head of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Dr Michael Seeraj said: "Red, White and Black Day is a powerful celebration of unity, respect and belonging - a reflection of what makes Charlton Athletic so very special: a club, its fans and the wider community united by diversity and shared values.

"By engaging over 500 young people from local schools and community groups, we are helping to inspire the next generation to see football as a space where everyone truly belongs - All Different; All Together; All Charlton."

Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive at University of Greenwich Professor Jane Harrington added: "At the University of Greenwich, we believe in Education Without Boundaries. For us, this means proactively supporting our students and staff to achieve their ambitions because of, rather than despite, their backgrounds.

"Red, White and Black day reflects those same beliefs, as well as the strength of our partnership with Charlton and the shared passion we have for making a real difference - on campus, in our communities and beyond."

The fixture will also be the club’s Together Against Racism matchday, as part of a wider EFL campaign.
