LOAN WATCH | In-form Mbick bags decisive brace

The in-form Micah Mbick was the match-winner for Colchester United on Saturday, bagging a brace in a 2-1 victory over Grimsby Town at Blundell Park.

The 18-year-old academy graduate, who has since been named in the Sky Bet League Two Team of the Week, brought the U’s level from close range in the first half before bringing a long ball forward down superbly, outmuscling his marker and calmly lifting the ball over the advancing Christy Pym on 60 minutes to claim all three points.

Saturday’s victory made it three wins on the spin for Colchester, with Mbick providing three goals and an assist in that time.

Elsewhere in Sky Bet League Two, fellow academy graduate Daniel Kanu played 72 minutes of Walsall’s 1-1 draw at Crawley Town. The Saddlers remain top of the table after extending their unbeaten league run to eight games.

In Sky Bet League One, Nathan Asiimwe played the entirety of AFC Wimbledon’s 1-1 draw against Port Vale at Plough Lane and Terry Taylor completed another full 90 for Northampton Town, who suffered 2-1 defeat at home to Rotherham United.

U21s full-back Toby Bower played 69 minutes of Farnborough’s 2-0 reverse at Braintree Town in the fourth and final round of Emirates FA Cup qualifying.

Crawley Town loanee Kaheim Dixon is currently away with Jamaica, while Gassan Ahadme (Stevenage), Alex Mitchell (Plymouth Argyle) and Zach Mitchell (Hibernian) were not in action for their respective loan clubs owing to the international break.
