Gavin Carter: "Another huge afternoon at The Valley awaits."

-

Non-Executive Chairman Gavin Carter has shared the following open letter to supporters ahead of Saturday's fixture at The Valley which sees Charlton Athletic Women take on Birmingham City in a winner-takes-all clash for promotion to the Barclays WSL:

Dear fellow fans,

Saturday’s win was another marker in our extraordinary history at The Valley. Watching from afar, I was incredibly proud. Proud of our players. Proud of the staff. Proud of you.

And now, another huge afternoon at The Valley awaits. Come back home for one last time this season as Karen Hills and her women’s team look to take their chance to write history and secure promotion to the Women’s Super League.

We’ve been top of the table for so much of the season, playing fantastic football along the way. Now we face Birmingham City in a promotion showdown. With Crystal Palace just one point behind, and two promotion places available, everything is on the line. A win or a draw takes us to the promised land.

If you are not travelling to Swansea, I would encourage you to come back to SE7, watch the screening of the boys and then get behind the women. If you have never experienced women’s football at The Valley, I would urge you to give it a go. This team embodies everything Charlton stands for. This group has been characterised by energy, bravery and togetherness. They have given us an incredible 18 months: a 27-game unbeaten run, record attendances and a league campaign that has put promotion in our hands.

A place in the top tier of women’s football is at stake. We are all in this together and, just like last weekend, your support will make the difference. So, head to our home, to The Valley, on Saturday. Back this team, and help end the season on a high.

Up the Addicks,

Gavin
