INTERNATIONAL WATCH | Mason plays full 90 for Northern Ireland

Ellie Mason playing for NI vs Turkey

Three Charlton Women players are away on international duty with their respective countries playing the first of two games in the Women's World Cup qualifiers last Friday.

Ellie Mason played the full 90 for Northern Ireland in their 2-1 loss to Turkey, which leaves them third in their qualifying group and unable to catch Friday's opponents who are in second.

Northern Ireland are, though, guaranteed a play-off in the autumn, so will have another chance to qualify for next year's World Cup in Brazil.

They now play Switzerland on Tuesday (6pm BST), in their final group game.

Mia Ross was an unused substitute for Wales' 1-1 draw with Montenegro, which left them second in their qualifying group.

They now face the Czech Republic on Tuesday (6pm BST), with the winner of that match finishing top of their group and earning a favourable path in the autumn play-offs.

Sophie Whitehouse was also an unused substitute in the Republic of Ireland's late win over the Netherlands, 3-2.

Amber Barrett scored in the 89th minute, poking home the corner that kept Ireland's hopes of achieving automatic qualification alive.

Whitehouse and her team now play France, away, on Tuesday (8pm BST), knowing that a win will secure them automatic qualification for the World Cup.
