Nathan Jones is looking forward to the Addicks' final home game of the season on Saturday, as they look to secure Sky Bet Championship status against Hull City.
"It is always an upbeat group; they enjoy training and are good with each other enjoy being around each other," Jones said.
"It was a tough night [on Wednesday] in terms of everything, we knew it was going to be a tough game. The margins were so small, as they are in Championship football. But we know the job in hand, and we are back at it."
Amari'i Bell, Tyreece Campbell and Matty Godden were all forced off on Wednesday through injury. The gaffer provided an update on the fitness of his squad ahead of Saturday's clash with the Tigers.
"It is going to be touch and go [on the injured players], they had to come off because of injury," he explained.
"We were worried about Matty Godden but that was positive, so that is the only thing I can say really. The others are touch and go and the decisions we have to make on them will be late ones.
"We felt that Matty may have had a crack or a fracture, fortunately nothing wasn’t, so now it is about pain management, there is nothing structural there."
"TC’s injury was his ankle. Darnell Furlong landed on his ankle. Amari’i [Bell] twisted his knee slightly, but that was more to do with a minor problem he had had before, it was more positive than we thought."
"We thought we had lost all three players for this week and for the next game, but we haven’t so that is good news, and we will see Kayne [Ramsay] again this season."
"We have to pick a team that can go again, that can be tactically good but can also be physically potent. We made those changes in the last game, a couple were enforced. We were able to freshen things up, hopefully if we do make changes, the whole squad will be able to go."
Meanwhile, Jones expects a real battle against Saturday's opponents with Hull going in search of a play-off place and, ultimately, a return to top-flight football for the first time since 2017.
"Hull are a really positive side," he said.
"They are well-coached, they have some really good individuals and they are around the top six. They have had the time to build, they have recruited well. They are a really difficult side to come up against, but we say that every week in the Championship. We have to be the best versions of ourselves and that is all I can ask for."
"We had some big games here [at The Valley] last year," added Jones.
"But, we have a squad full of players that have been promoted, won promotion or played at the highest level, that is why they are here.
"We'll prepare for Saturday in the same way that we normally would. We want to win the game."
Saturday's clash in SE7 is Charlton's final home game of the 2025/26 season and the Addicks' boss has surged supporters to come in their numbers and help his side over the line, just as they have on so many occasions before.
"We asked the fans to back us last year when I came here and they did," Jones explained.
"We increased the crowds last year, we had a big jump in numbers, they got behind everything and that culminated in a wonderful finish. We have asked them to do the same again, we have had so many 20,000+ crowds at home games which has shown the level that we want to be at. We have one more home game to do something really special."
Finally, Saturday marks Charlton Athletic Community Trust’s annual Upbeats Walk.
Ahead of kick-off against the Tigers, six Charlton legends will join 200 walkers taking on the route from the club’s Sparrows Lane training ground in New Eltham to The Valley, all in support of the Charlton Upbeats programme and Jones was full of praise for the Down's syndrome programme and the award-winning work of the Trust.
"Hopefully the Upbeats get the weather that they need [ahead of the Upbeats Walk]!" Jones smiled.
"They are so important to the football club with what they do. It is another facet of this wonderful football club that we can celebrate and enjoy, and demonstrates how good of a football club we are."
