Harvey Knibbs has set his sights on a positive finish for the Addicks on Saturday as they take on Swansea City in the final game of the Sky Bet Championship (KO 12.30pm BST).
Nathan Jones' men secured their second-tier status last time out, in a 2-1 win over Hull City.
“It definitely made my birthday [on the Sunday] a lot better! I think securing the team’s goal on Saturday was great and it was really nice with it being the final home game. To have the awards after and the lap around the pitch, it was a great day for everyone involved with the club," he explained.
“I feel like we have given ourselves a lot to do sometimes in games. When we start really well, we need to capitalise on those moments. It was really good in both halves [against Hull] to get an early-ish goal that allowed us to build that momentum.”
Last Saturday marked Knibbs' first start in the side since he sustained an injury against Sheffield United back in January.
“It was so good to be back out there. During the injury, when I found out the timescale and it was touch-and-go as to whether I would return before the end of the season, that is what motivated me to get back fit and help the team and see it over the line.”
“The fact I was able to start that game and have a good impact in it was really pleasing.”
“I feel like [Swansea] are a good free-flowing team. They play good football. At their place they are going to make it difficult, but we want to go there and back up the performance against Hull and have a real good end to the season," he said.
“I think it is important to end the season in high spirits, and put us a bit higher up the table, where we kind of deserve to be, especially with how we started the campaign, it will be really good to end it that way.”
