Jones looks ahead to Birmingham clash

Nathan Jones is looking to get back to winning ways on Saturday, as the Addicks take on Birmingham City at The Valley in the Sky Bet Championship (KO 3pm GMT).

The Addicks suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Wrexham in SE7 last time out.

"Apart from the outcome, the level of performance was excellent," the gaffer said.

"We have a good group, we pick up points and we would like to get a run of wins together. There is a belief in the squad that we're going to be okay, we just need to be more clinical," he explained.

"With the intensity of Championship football, we needed the week to relax. We trained today, and they showed what they needed to this week in the performance levels we got today. We go into another game coming up."

"Every single team in the Championship has something to play for. We have to be the best versions of ourselves and we have to replicate the performance we had against Wrexham last week."

Reece Burke was forced off after 13 minutes during last weekend's meeting with Wrexham.

"It was reminiscent of the Swansea game, it was tough in terms of injuries. Reece has had a really frustrating one - it's an injury that he's picked up that he's never had before. We did everything we could, we didn’t take him to West Brom and trained him so he would be ready for Saturday. It's a quad injury."

Luke Berry was also substituted last Saturday through injury: "Berry hasn’t played many minutes, but has trained fully and been in excellent form. It's frustrating losing a few players."

Collins Sichenje is also a doubt for selection. "We knew playing Collins regularly off the back of half a pre-season in Serbia and then coming into the intensity of the Championship would be tough and then it has a knock-on effect.

"Amari’i [Bell] was also struggling on Saturday."

Lloyd Jones was voted as the Addicks' February Player of the Month for the fourth month running.

"Lloyd has been excellent since I first came in. We're delighted with him, we've worked hard to get the best out of him. We've done decent work with everyone, and we're competing."
