Nathan Jones wants to see a reaction when his side visit the King Power Stadium on Saturday to face Leicester City (KO 12.30pm GMT).
The reverse fixture at The Valley in August saw the Foxes claim a 1-0 victory despite a bright showing from Jones' side.
"It has to act as a positive - we started the season really well and we were playing fantastically," said the gaffer. "The Leicester game is a game we should have won comfortably, but that is the level.
"That's what we're learning at this level, there are teams that have had considerably longer than us and Leicester were a Premier League club for years and years. While Charlton were a League One club, Leicester were winning the FA Cup and playing in Europe. These are the levels we come up against week in, week out and we relish in it.
"We've had some tough days, we know that, and Leicester was a tough day, last Saturday was a tough day for different reasons. This is why we're in the division. We have 18 games left and this is where we want to erase last week and try and build some momentum until the end of the season."
The Valley came together on Wednesday to celebrate the life of Norman 'Headphones Norm' Barker, with club chaplain Matt Baker leading the funeral service.
"If you listened to the eulogy, I'm not sure there were many things more important to Norm than football. That's the thing about him - I didn’t know him that well personally, but I got to meet him and he typifies a football fan. Everything that came from the ceremony was wonderful," Jones said.
"Everyone spoke about how gentle, humble and kind he was, he helped so many people. It’s a tragedy, but it’s a wonderful story - 35 years he has been a season ticket holder, 20 years in that same seat. It’s a wonderful story and a tragic but poignant way to go - he was immersed in this football club and we have lost one of our own."
