Nathan Jones will come up against a familiar face at The Valley on Saturday when his side take on Swansea City.
Swans boss Alan Sheehan captained Jones' Luton Town side and later held coaching roles under the Welshman.
"Swansea have been around a long time at this level and higher, so they’re going to be tough opposition," Jones said. "Alan was an excellent captain for me, he was a coach for me and he was set play coach for me, so he’s someone I know very, very well. It’s a tough league to have your first job in management and I think he’s done excellently."
Jones provided an encouraging update on the injury front, with last season's top scorer Matty Godden making positive progress.
"Matty Godden’s a lot closer," explained the gaffer. "He’s now far more mobile and he’s doing the things that we want him to do. He’s had two weeks now of fitness work, so he’s a lot closer which is really good. That will give us another option and another headache, so we’re looking forward to that. Josh [Edwards] is the only one then that’s a little way off."
