Jones: 'We want to get back to winning ways'

Nathan Jones is looking to get back to winning ways on Saturday, as the Addicks take on Oxford United at The Valley in the Sky Bet Championship (KO 3pm GMT).

Charlton picked up a valuable point on the road last time out with a 1-1 draw at Birmingham City, a performance the gaffer is keen to build on.

"We've had some real good performances this season, but what's important [on Saturday] is that we got back to being a bit more like us," explained Jones.

"We looked far more solid, far more aggressive, we looked more potent, and we had some good opportunities to score. All those things are good things for us.

"We've been through a tough spell with injuries and the run of games we had, and we're glad to be coming through that. The Birmingham game reflected that."

Jones gave an encouraging squad update ahead of this weekend's meeting with the U's.

"We're in a considerably better position than what we were. How many [injured players] can feature on Saturday is one thing, but they're filtering back now. We could get two players back for the weekend and we work on from there.

"Things are looking better, it’s starting to look a lot healthier and we just need to make sure we manage things right. We have to rebuild the confidence and the defensive solidity, and we can go from there."

Looking ahead to Saturday, Jones expects a tough challenge against Gary Rowett's side.

"Every team is different and every team has their threats. You have to adjust - that’s the great thing about the Championship, anyone can beat anyone.

"We want to get back to winning ways, winning at The Valley. We want to get back to being us and kick on from there."
