Charlton Athletic are delighted to announce the signing of winger Josh Hebert following a successful trial period.

The 18-year-old impressed during five starts for Chris Lock’s U21s side, scoring four goals, registering two assists and winning a penalty.

Hebert, who began his youth career at Brighton & Hove Albion before joining Dorking Wanderers in March 2024, has made 12 National League South appearances for Wanderers this season.

Hebert already has an existing connection with Charlton. His grandfather Keith Hayward became the youngest goalkeeper to make his debut for the Addicks in the club’s history during the 1968/69 campaign.

After putting pen to paper with the Addicks, Hebert said: “It’s a really good feeling to sign a professional contract at Charlton, a club that I’ve grown up watching. It’s a really proud moment for me and my family.”

Academy Advisor Steve Avory, who oversaw Hebert’s trial period, commented: “We’re delighted to get the signing of Josh over the line. It’s not easy for any Trialist coming in, but what Josh was able to do and prove is that he can impact every game. Alistair Clarke, our Head of Emerging Talent, had been monitoring him for quite a while to get him in and he’s done a good job.”

Charlton fans can support the academy by signing up to the Valley Gold scheme. Valley Gold enables fans to support the club’s academy in unearthing the talents of tomorrow, as well as giving them the chance to win cash prizes.
