Legends line up for Upbeats Walk

With just over a week to go until the Upbeats Walk on Saturday 8th April, three further Charlton legends will be joining Derek Hales and Mike Flanagan to raise funds for the much loved Upbeats.

Simon Webster, Bob Bolder and Carl Leaburn lined up for Charlton on the historic return to The Valley 25 years ago. Now they’re supporting the Upbeats on the fundraising charity walk next Saturday.

Next Saturday, the walking groups will set off at 9.00am from Sparrows Lane, before arriving at The Valley 9 miles and 3 and a-half hours later.

Speaking about the event Addicks cult hero Carl Leaburn said “I have loved taking part in the Upbeats walk in previous years and can’t wait to join again this year. It’s a great example of the Charlton family coming together and support a brilliant cause. It’s part of the spirit that got us back to The Valley 25 years ago.

I would really encourage supporters to join Simon, Bob, Derek, Mike and myself next Saturday or try and donate if possible."

There is still space available to join Bob, Simon and Carl on the walk to raise money for the Upbeats and you can sign up for free here.

All participants will then have the opportunity to support The Upbeats in a curtain raiser fixture against Albion in the Community’s Down’s syndrome team, before watching Charlton Athletic taken on Southend United at 3.00pm.

Included for participating:

  • 9 mile walk from Sparrows Lane to The Valley
  • Charlton legend to lead your walking group
  • Charlton Upbeats walking T-shirt
  • Arrival pastry and tea or coffee
  • Discounted ticket for Charlton’s game against Southend United

Each walker is encouraged to raise at least £50 each for their involvement, helping CACT reach their fundraising goal of £25,000 for the project.
