MATCH PREVIEW | Burton Albion v Charlton

The Addicks return to Sky Bet League One action on Saturday, taking on Burton Albion at the Pirelli Stadium (3pm KO GMT).

Ben Garner’s side travel to Staffordshire buoyed by three consecutive cup victories against Brighton & Hove Albion U21, Coalville Town and Stevenage respectively.

Sean Clare will serve a one-match suspension this weekend having accumulated five league cautions, while Mandela Egbo (quad), Eoghan O’Connell (knee), Terell Thomas (hamstring), Conor McGrandles (ankle), Diallang Jaiyesimi (ankle) and Miles Leaburn (ankle) are all sidelined.

The hosts will check on the fitness of Adrian Mariappa, Mustapaha Carayol and Sam Winnall, though John Brayford and Corrie Ndaba remain unavailable.

Michael Mancienne (knee) and Ciaran Gilligan (hamstring) could both return to Dino Maamria's league squad having played an hour in Tuesday’s Birmingham Senior Cup tie against Highgate United.

Burton currently sit bottom of the Sky Bet League One table having taken 12 points from their 17 league outings to date.

The Brewers head into Saturday’s clash on the back of a 2-0 triumph over Southern League Premier Central Division side Needham Market in the Emirates FA Cup first round. That result was preceded by back-to-back away defeats at Bolton Wanderers and Sheffield Wednesday respectively.

Charlton and Burton have gone toe-to-toe on seven previous occasions, with the Addicks winning five and the Brewers two.

The last meeting between the two sides resulted in a 2-0 victory for the Addicks at The Valley, with Conor Washington and Corey Blackett-Taylor both on the scoresheet.

Charlton’s last trip to the Pirelli Stadium, meanwhile, produced a 1-0 win thanks to Ben Purrington’s first-half strike.

Will Finnie will be the man in the middle on Saturday. The official last refereed a Charlton fixture in March – a 1-0 win against Gillingham in SE7.

Finnie will be assisted by Richard Woodward and Mark Jones, while Declan Ford is the Fourth Official.

The Addicks will be donning their white away strip in Staffordshire.
